Leighton Beach

Is This Perth's Best Beach?

Picture a beach with an endless stretch of white sand and crystal-clear water, next door to lush parkland and a buzzing hive of cafes and restaurants. Sounds perfect, right? This is why we can't get enough of Leighton Beach. We've rounded up the reasons why these sandy shores are Perth's #1 coastal playground.

#1. The Laid-back Lifestyle

Leighton Beach has quickly become a vibrant community hub in North Freo for beachgoers, fitness fanatics and brunch enthusiasts alike. The close proximity of the beach to the Perth CBD and the surrounding suburbs of Cottesloe, Mosman Park and Fremantle makes it super accessible and - let's be real - it's the nicest part of shoreline in the area!

#2. The Watersports

If you're a keen kitesurfer, paddleboarder or kayaker, this is your place. Leighton Beach is a year-round hotspot for watersports and the winter months definitely don't deter the regulars! You can even hire equipment direct from the crew at The Orange Box kiosk. On the days with low wind, the water at Leighton can be as calm as a pool, which makes it ideal for swimming laps.

#3. The Open Space

If staying on land is more your thing, bring a football down to the lawn at Leighton Beach reserve and make a day of it. The park is also dog friendly, so don't forget to bring along your furry mates! For cardio addicts, you can also cycle or run the 5km bike track that spans from Leighton to Swanbourne Beach.

#4. The Food

Two of the best breakfast joints in Perth are conveniently situated within 100m of Leighton's shoreline. Bib & Tucker serves up impressive Mod-Aus cuisine throughout the day, and is also a prime spot to indulge in a few sunset cocktails. The ever-popular Orange Box is perfect for a mid-morning refuel of pastries and fresh juice, or a relaxed coffee with friends.
