  • Meet North Fremantle's Brightest New Addition: The Orange Box.

Situated only steps away from the white sands of Leighton Beach, The Orange Box is North Fremantle's newest coastal cafe and local community hub. At first glance, this bright orange kiosk resembles a giant shipping container, but a closer look reveals a vibrant meeting place where you can grab your morning coffee, join in on a yoga class or hire a stand up paddleboard. Perfect for a post-beach pick me up, you'll often find North Freo's laid back locals sipping a latte in the colourful deck chairs or laid out on picnic rugs soaking up the winter rays.

Popular for a relaxed weekend breakfast, here you can pore over an all-day menu of free range eggs on toast, healthy burgers, fresh pastries and smoothies. They even have the little ones sorted with a dedicated kids menu. The focus is on fresh, quality and locally-sourced produce that promotes an ethos of a socially responsible and ethical way of living.

Owner Trevor Whyte is a keen paraglider and kite surfer who opted for a sea change after a steady 35 years in the hospitality industry - the majority of which were spent in fine dining venues - and had a vision to open a relaxed coastal cafe, that would quickly become a social destination for locals and beach goers alike. We had a quick chat to Trevor about the inspiration behind North Freo's brightest new addition.
